I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation - Joan Jett

After two months of investigation and four and a half months in adjudication, my security clearance has been granted.

I called yesterday to ask the clearance customer service folks for any news.  When the guy on the phone asked me if I was sitting down, I had a few moments of flip-flopping between getting excited and getting worried.  I sat down and asked him for the update.  He let me know that I'd been cleared and that my file is on its way over to State for the final review.

Most people get through the final review in a week or two.

The management register is very short right now, so even people with low scores are getting asked to join an orientation class as soon as they get through final review.  At this point, the March invites have gone out, so I've missed that class, but May seems very likely.

I'm going to Dubai in June as the GSO. Taking GSO training now.

How about you? What's the latest?

Wow...I was reading your clearance process and your clearance interview experience. Wow!

So is there a reason why the clearance took long or was it just your luck? I ask because I am going through my clearance and I am so nervous mine will take forever! I apologize if I seem intrusive...as you know this process of waiting is hell.

GOOD LUCK again...

FO - Good luck in your clearance.
There was no one particular or major reason that my clearance took so long. I had what I would call very minor blips on my record, but couldn't understand what would take more that a few minutes of review to get past them, and still don't understand what took four months of review once the investigation was complete.
Your comment made me re-read this posting. This post is 10 months old. I'm still waiting for the call, and frankly, starting to lose hope. I've been so close for so long, but between the predicted budget cuts and the smaller classes, things don't look good.

Thanks...I have a blip that concerns me...but my investigator said it is an out of my control situation and I made the right choices given the circumstances...but still I worry. OMS invitations are still going out and like you said budget cuts are hanging over us like a carrot on a stick.

Best of luck to you. Like Digger says...it is so worth the wait. Who knows...maybe you'll get an unexpected Christmas present...

Don't lose hope. Hang in there. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. = )
